Alfa 159 comes with a choice of either the 2.2 JTS direct injection engine, or the 3.2 V6 engine.
The 3.2 V6, along with Q4 all wheel drive, guarantees sportiness, while the 2.2 JTS offers excellent performance. All the engines are designed to provide maximum driving pleasure, excellent pick-up, and a huge reserve of power for when needed, especially when overtaking.

The 2.2 and 3.2 JTS engines are available in the Alfa 159, Alfa 159 Sportwagon, Alfa Brera and Alfa Spider
This is also made possible by the new 6-speed mechanical gearboxes that allow for a sporty, comfortable drive. The entire range of engines available on the Alfa 159 complies with Euro 4 limits on emissions.
In addition, the diesel engines are fitted as standard with an anti-particulate filter that lasts for the entire lifetime of the vehicle and does not need any additives for regeneration. Innovative engines that offer the utmost driving comfort, thrilling response and high performance.

The front features the classic vertical “shield”, which seems to be the starting point for the entire car, and all-new circular lights; the rear, tough and solid, has large pillars around the rear window, a twin exhaust pipe, and a small spoiler that gives the car a sense of style and practicality.
The overall impression is one of elegance, power, sturdiness and dynamism, an impression enhanced by the use of 16”, 17” or 18” alloy wheels in seven different styles.
The sloping front pillar gives the car a sleek look, emphasising the presence of the powerful engine under the hood.

The elongated rear lights are split by the opening for the luggage compartment, and echo the front lights. The exterior dimensions - 4660 mm long; 1828 mm wide; 1417 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2700 mm – are impressive and provide lots of interior space. The Alfa 159 has proved that it is among the very best in terms of safety, passing the strict Euro NCAP safety tests, scoring five stars – the top score – for the protection of occupants and four stars for child safety.
These excellent results were reached thanks to the use of new high-strength, dual-phase steels for the body, non-deformable floorpan and the solid engine support structure, ensuring the maximum protection for passengers even in the event of a high-speed collision.

The Electronic Q2, a braking system managed by an ESP control unit, is capable of behaviour closely resembling a limited slip differential. By distributing torque between the front drive wheels in a dynamic, continuous manner, the Alfa 159 is ready to tackle any driving condition or road surface. All the main elements of the bodyshell are securely inter-connected; three load lines at the front and continuous long members along the length of the car ensure outstanding safety and driving comfort.
The passive safety systems are designed for the best possible results. As well as the front, side and window bags, the car is also equipped with innovative knee-bags for the driver, available for the passenger on request. For smaller passengers, triple Isofix fittings are available in the rear for child seats. |

Like the Alfa 159 saloon, the Alfa 159 Sportwagon is also available with Blue&ME™, a hands-free system with voice recognition based on Windows Mobile® technology, which can be used with Bluetooth® mobile phones using voice commands or steering wheel controls (your phonebook appears on the instrument panel display), and it can also be used to listen to music stored on a pen-drive or media player, by simply connecting the device to the system’s USB port. Then there is Blue&ME™ NAV, the new voice recognition satellite navigation system. The two systems are available as optional, and integrate perfectly with the car. |
