Handling / Suspension

Impeccable handling.
Responsive and agile over mixed surfaces; proper aspect quickly restored after quick manoeuvres; fast, easy and controllable lane-changes; perfect stability even when braking at round corners. These advanced suspension systems, make Alfa Romeo a real driving pleasure.

Front 'Quadrilateral' Wishbone Suspension

The name comes from the way in which the links join the wheels to create a four-sided geometrical shape.

Inherited from Formula 1
, this suspension accentuates the stability of front wheel drive by increasing axle inclination on bends, thus giving the best possible grip. Keeping the wheels perfectly perpendicular to the road on bends, gives the best possible contact between the tire surface and the road.
If an obstacle is encountered, the wheel can also move backwards slightly.

McPherson Rear Suspension

The main advantages of the McPherson suspension is its simplicity and compact dimensions. With independent wheels, it has more precise control of all wheel movements, absorbs knocks and vibrations, and increases comfort.

When it meets an obstacle (manhole covers, tramlines, uneven surfaces, etc.) the wheel absorbs the knock and maintains maximum directional stability, be it on straight roads or corners. Car realignment is improved after sharp steering manoeuvres and general equilibrium is increased.

Multilink Rear Suspension

This feature enhances road holding and stability, and gives perfect behaviour when changing lanes in the event of rapid steering-counter steering. Independent wheels, with lower swinging wishbone and three control rods, coaxial springs on the shock absorbers and stabilizing bar, are great contributions to on-board safety.
